Mr. Yves Rocher creates the eponymous brand and launches the first line of cosmetics, “beauty through plants,” sold by mail order.

  • Opening of the “La Croix des Archers” distribution site in Brittany, in La Gacilly.
  • Opening of the 1st Yves Rocher store at 43 boulevard Hausmann in Paris.

1st international step for the Yves Rocher brand (in Belgium).

Sanofi becomes a shareholder of Groupe Rocher.

Birth of the "Botanical Garden" in Brittany, a tribute to the vegetal world.

Opening of the Rieux industrial site in Brittany, dedicated to make-up and skin cares.

  • Daniel Rocher, the founder’s son, creates the brand Daniel Jouvance, a specialist in marine cosmetics, whose journey continued until 2021.
  • Opening of a research and seaweed cultivation center at L’Éclosarium on the Île de Houat in Brittany.

Acquisition of the Ploërmel manufacturing site in Brittany, dedicated to perfumes (factory sold in 2024).

Creation of the brand Dr. Pierre Ricaud, a specialist in anti-aging skincare that combines dermatological actives with the power of medicinal plants.

Groupe Rocher takes direct control of home-selling in Northern Italy.

Acquisition of Petit Bateau, a specialist in children’s clothing (sale project announced in January 2025).

1991

  • Opening of a new “Villes-Geffs” factory in La Gacilly dedicated to packaging shower gels, hair care and body care.
  • Creation of the Yves Rocher Foundation, chaired by Jacques Rocher, son of the founder.

Acquisition of the brand Stanhome, a specialist in home care and enhancement products (sale project announced in January 2025).

Les champs de culture de La Gacilly sont certifiés "agriculture biologique".

  • Jacques Rocher, crée la marque Kiotis, spécialiste des produits cosmétiques à base d’huiles essentielles.
  • La marque Yves Rocher lance son 1er site de vente en ligne.

Opening of an international logistics platform in Villouët.

Creation of the annual “Photo Festival” at La Gacilly, the largest outdoor photo festival in Europe.

The Yves Rocher Foundation commits to planting 1 million trees as part of its “Plant for the Planet” campaign. Today, in 2025, the Foundation has contributed to the planting of more than 125 million trees worldwide.

  • Opening of the Eco-hotel Spa « La Grée des Landes » at La Gacilly, in Brittany.
  • Bris Rocher, grandson of the founder becomes CEO of the family Group.

  • Acquisition of the Turkish brand Flormar, a specialist in makeup (to be sold in 2024).
  • Sanofi divests from Groupe Rocher.

Opening of the new eco-responsible operational headquarters certified HQE, in the Paris region.

  • Acquisition of the brand SABON, a brand of natural skincare rituals infused with Dead Sea minerals and an expert in skin exfoliation.
  • Petit Bateau opens its new global logistics platform in Troyes.

Opening of the Yves Rocher Brand House in La Gacilly.

2018

Acquisition of the American brand Arbonne, a pioneer in clean beauty and a leading brand in natural wellness (skincare and nutrition), specializing in plant-based products.

2019

True to its roots, Groupe Rocher becomes the first international group to adopt the status of a “Mission-Driven Company,” with the objective of “Reconnecting people with nature.”

2021

Launch of the initiative “La Gacilly, Low-Carbon Territory,” aimed at significantly decarbonizing the group’s historical territory by 2025.

Green Impact Index

2022

Groupe Rocher becomes one of the founding members of the “Green Impact Index” (GII), a tool for displaying the environmental and societal impact of cosmetic and wellness products. 

 

2024

  • The SBTi approves the group’s ambitious greenhouse gas emission reduction trajectory, based on a carbon sobriety approach (direct reduction of energy consumption and transition to renewable energies).
  • Bris Rocher, President of Groupe Rocher, is appointed Chair of the “Green Impact Index” Consortium.

2025

  • Groupe Rocher signs the AI Pact, reinforcing its commitment to ethical and responsible artificial intelligence.
  • The group announces that it will leverage its unique integrated model, from plant to skin, to maximize its core expertise and announces its intention to sell its children’s fashion and home care brands.
